Biography
Jan Knippers is a German civil engineer and professor of structural design at the University of Stuttgart, where he has also served as the vice rector for research since 2019. From 1983 to 1989, he studied civil engineering at the Technical University of Berlin, where he obtained his doctorate in 1992. Until 2000, he worked as an engineer for Schlaich Bergermann Partner. He subsequently took over the leadership of the Institute for Lightweight Structures and Conceptual Design (ITKE) at the University of Stuttgart.
