The Institute of Experimental Creation will celebrate eight years of its activities together with the third anniversary of the creative hub Kumst. The exhibition showcasing the activities of the youngest of the institutes of the Faculty of Architecture at the Brno University of Technology will be ceremonially opened on September 22, 2023, at 18:00. As part of the accompanying program, a panel discussion will take place on September 29 at 16:30 with Ján Pernecký, Petr Janda, Jiří Vítek, Szymon Rozwalka, and the head of the institute Martin Kaftan. The evening will conclude with the launch of a book about the possible future of cities titled Biom.
The Faculty of Architecture is participating for the third time in the celebrations of the creative hub Kumst. This year's connection between architecture and the creative platform will be marked by experimentation. The dynamic Institute of Experiment has created a unique exhibition presenting the current work of its students and teachers.
Currently, Martin Kaftan, Nicol Galeová, Szymon Rozwalka, and Svatopluk Sládeček are working at the Institute of Experimental Creation. During its existence, the institute has collected several awards within the faculty's Bohuslav Fuchs Award and regularly establishes collaborations with foreign architects and other universities, including Winny Maas from the Dutch office MVRDV, FA ČVUT, and JAMU, among others.
As part of the accompanying program and the festival Architecture Day, a lecture and moderated discussion titled Experiment? will take place on Friday, September 29, with educators and collaborators, followed by the ceremonial launch of the publication Biom. The author team in the book, consisting of Romana Bolcka, Zdeněk Vejpustek, and Petr František, presents an architectural vision of a world where a large part of the population lives with the help of advanced technology in nearly self-sufficient cities, offering residents a higher quality environment for life. The rector of VUT, doc. Ing. Ladislav Janíček, PhD., MBA, LL.M., has also taken patronage over the publication.
The exhibition will be on display in the foyer of the creative hub KUMST on Údolní street in the center of Brno until October 13, 2023.
