On Thursday, April 3, 2025, Kenny Windels, co-founder of the Flemish Studio Basta, will present a lecture titled Decoupling as a Catalyst for Creation. He will focus on the removal of unnecessary hardened surfaces and their transformation as a key step towards improving the urban environment. Through specific examples from his practice, he will demonstrate how this approach supports biodiversity, more efficient water management, and overall quality of life in cities. He will also present methods and strategies that enable the transformation of impervious surfaces into functional green spaces – aesthetically appealing, sustainable, and prepared for future challenges.
