Mirko Baum is an architect and educator focused on technical buildings and structures. After completing his studies at the Faculty of Architecture at the Czech Technical University in Prague, he became a member of the Liberec SIAL (Association of Engineers and Architects of Liberec). In the mid-1970s, he began his practice abroad, including collaboration with architect Josef P. Kleihues. He served as a professor at the Faculty of Architecture at the Technical University in Cáchy for twenty years, where he realized the building of student studios (1998–2002). In 2007, he published a book of essays on constructions and the theory of form titled The Street at the End of the World. That same year, he co-founded the studio baum & baroš ARCHITEKTI with David Baroš. Their Czech realizations include the footbridge over the Orlice in Hradec Králové and the Komenský Bridge in Jaroměř. Lukáš Beran is an architectural historian and educator at the Faculty of Architecture at the Czech Technical University in Prague, and since 2005 has worked for the local Research Center for Industrial Heritage. He focuses on issues of industrial architecture, as well as the architecture of the second half of the twentieth century.
