On hundreds of events in more than 120 cities and towns across the Czech Republic and Slovakia, the 14th annual Architecture Days festival invites you from September 27 to October 3. An interesting program will also be offered by the cultural organization Živý Zlín on September 28.
A unique perspective of the city will be provided by a guided tour from the terraces of five high cultural monuments in Zlín, where visitors will also learn about the history of individual buildings. Four of them are not normally accessible to the public. “With guide and art historian Martina Kroutilová, we will take a look at the city from above and familiarize ourselves with its urban development. We invite participants to the roof of Morýs's House 2, Drofa, Collective House, and the Tower House and Twenty-One,” clarified the director of Živý Zlín, Jana Kubáčová.
The tours will be divided into two parts. From 9:00 AM, the tour will visit Drofa and Morýs's and Tower House, while from 2:00 PM, the visit will continue to the Collective House and Baťa's skyscraper.
Entry is free, but due to limited capacity, prior reservation is required at www.kulturazlin.cz!
Those who cannot attend the tour will also have an experience. In the evening hours, a beam of light will shine from all five roofs, connecting the buildings in an imaginary constellation that will be well visible, for example, from the Southern Slopes.
“Our aim this year is to offer carefully selected events to visitors of all ages, where they can discover often overlooked places or perceive architecture in a broader context, always with expert commentary. In many cases, we also try to highlight the significance of public space and its transformations,” adds Marcela Steinbachová, director of the Architecture Days.
