Lightness, movement, and dynamics are central themes of the architectural design of the exhibition "The Century of Volleyball." Flying volleyballs with trajectories, the phased movement of volleyball players, and a suspended volleyball net compel the visitor to perceive the entire space, including the height where volleyball spikes occur over the net.
The area by the elevator is dedicated to introductory themes, particularly interactive elements for visitors. Here, one can try out jumping height or spike height and compare it with records from the volleyball world. After this initial warm-up, the visitor finds themselves in the main hall. The installation of individual themes and timelines forms a continuous unifying line around the perimeter. Display cases from the NM exhibition collection are integrated into a pedestal, which visually unifies various types of display cases and also creates a space for visitors to rest on seating reminiscent of bleachers in a gymnasium.
Freely in the space, dioramas of dressed mannequins, line judges, a volleyball umpire, and also samples of various surfaces on which volleyball is played are installed on circles. A net hovers from the ceiling, through which balls fly. On the wall with windows, a translucent fabric with graphics is suspended at the bottom, and above it is a free installation made of hanging balls. Across the entire window wall, a silhouette of a volleyball player moves in a phased motion.
On the axis of the space, top exhibits (trophies) from various significant matches representing the best moments of Czechoslovak and Czech volleyball are placed. As visitors pass through the wall of trophies, they find themselves in the Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame is designed in the shape of a rounded capsule. The suspended fabric serves as a backdrop for graphics as well as for the projection of medallions of individual personalities.
