ConceptTo do it a little differently. That was our basic concept, which addressed the fundamental requirements of the investor. How to combine a storage facility with a space that will be accessible to the public? How to deal with the requirement to place three separate buildings on a not very large plot and thus maintain functional traffic and operational relationships?
DescriptionStorage halls with a showroom for demonstrating products and a place where technology suppliers can bring end customers and discuss everything necessary under one roof.
From the beginning, we wanted to do it differently. The greatest emphasis was placed on creating a public space. By bringing all three masses together and slightly rotating them, a small courtyard was created, a funnel-shaped space that allows visitors to pass uninterrupted into each of the halls.
An extensive water feature, a row of trees, benches, and an artwork are all elements that few would expect in a storage facility, and that make the site accessible to the public.
OperationEach hall has an administrative and a storage section. The administrative sections are dominated by a spacious skylight, glass partitions, and an open space across two floors. The storage part is purposefully designed according to the needs of each hall, with goods being delivered from the rear, where the service access route leads.
Construction, materialsIt consists of a reinforced concrete skeleton with an outer shell made of PUR panels and frosted polycarbonate panels.
The polycarbonate facade partially reveals the activities inside the storage spaces, creating a changing scenery that stands out especially in the winter months when it gets dark early.
Everything is complemented by steel elements and large-format aluminum windows in anthracite color.
