The task was not one of the easiest: sensitively placing a family house on a sloped and unusually shaped plot in a dense village development.
The view. This was the element that played a primary role on the site. But how to ensure a view from all the rooms when the plot conically narrows towards the view?
The basis of the house design in the very dense development of a picturesque Moravian village is a simple rectangular mass freely placed on the slope. This naturally creates a covered parking space at the bottom, leading to a covered entrance to the living areas.
The individual bedrooms are slightly rotated in the floor plan, allowing them to open with narrow windows towards the views of the square.
"The house is an unobtrusive rebel. While it adheres to all the elements of traditional village architecture, such as a rectangular mass with a gable roof, it also slightly rebels: for example, with a generous glazed facade or offset window openings in the bedrooms," describes the most distinctive elements of the solution architect Miroslav Stach from the studio boq architekti.
The house does not have a garden. However, it is very pleasantly replaced by a generous terrace that offers the most beautiful views of the village.
Hunter of ViewsUpon entering the house, you move from the hallway into a corridor that connects the private and public parts of the house. The living space immediately impresses with its generosity. It is raised and opens up to the rafters, with the entire facade being glazed and open towards the square.
The bedrooms are located at the back of the house, and thanks to the aforementioned slight rotation of the floor plan, they also open towards the beautiful view. However, the significantly smaller glazing gives them a completely different and very cozy atmosphere that provides a sense of security.
The house does not pretend to be anything it is not, and the chosen materials speak for themselves. The lower part of the house sits on walls made of lost formwork, with the load supported by exposed steel profiles.
The design incorporates wooden cladding on the facade and a metal roof. Stone plays a significant role here, both in the form of gabion retaining walls and especially in the stone paving and the dry stacked wall.
