Family House Domesi – Roprachtice

Family House Domesi – Roprachtice
Collaboration:Radim Arch.
Completion:2010 - 2011
Area:138 m2

The plot for the construction of a family house in the Jizera Mountains is slightly sloped towards the east. There are two mature linden trees on the plot, and to the west, the land transitions into open meadows. The eastern boundary of the property is a access road, beyond which there are distant views of the ridges of the Krkonoš Mountains. To the south of the building is the central part of the village with a baroque rectory, a church, and a former school. The house opens its main living space to this view between the church and the school, and the largest window on the upper floor faces the distant views of the Krkonoš Mountains. The house is placed behind the linden trees, oriented with its ridge along the contour lines, just like the surrounding buildings. The composition of the house’s mass is derived from local scales and roof shapes. The comprehensible and clear shape of the house with a gable roof is emphasized by a uniform wooden cladding of the roof and facade, made of vertically laid boards. A dormer runs through the main mass of the house, opening the attic to the tops of the linden trees and further to the view of the ridges of the Krkonoš Mountains. The ground floor, which has its main entrance from the east, is divided into a living area oriented towards the village square to the southeast and a service area with bedrooms facing east. The upper floor is initially designed as an open space - without finalized layouts. Later, rooms for a second bathroom, an office, and bedrooms will be realized here.
