The original house was built in 1999 on a plot that was separated from the neighboring garden. The new owners anticipated from the beginning that they would need to reconstruct it to better suit their needs.
In particular, it was necessary to completely change the internal layout of the ground floor to create a generous living space with a kitchenette, oriented south to the garden. As part of the interior layout, the entrance hallway, hall, and restroom were also redesigned. The original steel staircase was replaced with a new wooden one. In the attic, the bathroom and restroom were renovated.
The exterior of the house was cleaned from the entrance canopy on the north side and the balcony on the south side. About 1/3 of the windows were reconfigured or completely newly cut out. A terrace with a wooden pergola was added adjacent to the living space, accessible by a pair of sliding doors. A carport was also built, the structure of which also creates a covered entryway in front of the house and additionally integrates a small shed. Due to the limited conditions, this shed also forms the edge of the plot and smoothly transitions into a new wooden fence towards the street. Hidden within its facade are the original unsightly posts for gas and electricity measurement. The new outdoor elements strictly respected the existing trees.
As part of the building modifications, all doors, windows, floors, and tiles were replaced. The house was insulated and received a new gray facade. In terms of its design, the details at the base, roof, and gable of the building were meticulously treated. The extremely long eaves of the rafters were shortened, and the roofing was replaced. Overall, the house gained a modern appearance. The new outdoor elements of the timber structures are left in a natural color and treated with a transparent stain.
The house installations were also renovated, a new energy-efficient gas boiler was installed, and the water, sewage, and electrical systems were modified. A pit for rainwater infiltration was also constructed.
