Reconstruction of an apartment in Krč

The investor purchased an apartment with a winter garden in a terraced house from the 1980s and requested to maintain the number of bedrooms and expand the living space with the year-round use of the covered terrace.
The advantage of the apartment is its southwest orientation with a view of the opposite valley. This is also the basis of the design. In the bedrooms, the sills were removed and replaced with folding French windows. The continuous windows in the living room and covered terrace were replaced with folding ones that open outward. Thus, when opened, the windows offer an unobstructed view.
The change from a winter garden to a living room required forced air exchange in the bedrooms.
The interior is furnished with custom-made furniture and a collection of paintings predominantly by Oldřich Tichý and several light fixtures by Alvar Aalto. Materials include aluminum windows, oak floorboards, doors and a chest of drawers in the bedroom made of Santos rosewood, lighter Madura gold stone in the kitchen, and darker Emperador Dark stone in the bathroom.
