The existing apartment in a neoclassical corner building in Prague, built in 1837 by architect Jan Ripota, which was one of the first buildings in Karlín and is heritage protected, has undergone complete reconstruction. The apartment reconstruction included its extension into the roof space and the creation of a new roof dormer located in the courtyard of the building. Part of the reconstruction was also the realization of an outdoor atrium, which offers a quiet sitting area and provides the apartment's space with natural light.
The wooden beam ceilings in the living room, which were covered by the original reed ceiling, were exposed and cleaned to create the historical character of the original living space.
The intention of the complete apartment reconstruction was to restore the artistic values in the historical living unit while sensitively incorporating modern elements and technologies into the space (the use of discreet air conditioning vents, frameless sliding doors to the outdoor atrium, the use of smooth polyurethane floor and wall finishes, etc.). Natural wood textures in natural tones were preferred for the final finish. Natural stone in light shades was used in the bathrooms and toilets. All sinks in the apartment are also stone. The furniture and artworks were selected together with a stylist - a large part of them was found and chosen in Prague, some are from the architect's private collection. Among the main features are various sofas arranged to bring balance to the environment.

"The interior design is based on a deep knowledge of natural materials and modern technologies applied here. It respects the history of traditional crafts (especially stonemasonry and carpentry). The goal was to create an interior of international standard." Petr Jančálek
