City Hall of the Komín district

Contemporary town hall of the city district: We sought an expression that is civil and civic while simultaneously dignified and serious, functional and spatially arranged, on one hand open, friendly, and clear, while on the other providing enough intimacy and seriousness for officials, visiting citizens, and local self-government. All of this framed by a typical prefabricated structure of a former kindergarten and a low budget. The mayor is a wise man, and therefore he had enough understanding for our work. The result is a simple building. Outside it is civil and restrained, yet with a certain subtlety of the flush windows on the ground floor and the inset windows of the upper floor; inside it is clear and perhaps appropriately festive with a color combination of golden wood and red plaster walls. The entrance hall, ventilated by a skylight, doubles as a meeting room for the council when closed off by sliding walls. The mayor's office and conference room is accentuated by a large corner window above the entrance, which features a casing made of Božanov sandstone. The doors to the colorful offices are glazed, corridors are wide with wooden-paneled niches for potential waiting for administrative procedures. The new spatial structure of the offices is independent of the structural modulation of the former kindergarten, and thus the "liberated" standing pillars create a plastic and colorful motif in some offices. The surrounding area of the building is still awaiting a new layout, which would transform the urbanistically "scattered" structure of the kindergarten into more of a town hall and a spatial arrangement of the nearest area, which is to be carried out next year.
