The new offices of Livesport connect to the previous floors, combining sports and modern technology. The designed space further develops sports ideas, but the inspiration was not the match itself, rather the hard work of training and self-improvement within preparation. The design was inspired by a generic gym that can be adapted using exercise equipment for training various office activities. The gym is defined in the floor by a constant area of carpet squares and in the ceiling by a regular grid of spotlights and a ceiling without a drop.
This space is further complemented by three main supporting elements of the design – lines in the floor, sports equipment, and an electronic pencil. These three main ideas are abstracted through architectural expressive elements that penetrate the offices. We understand the line as an element zoning individual parts of the offices, sports equipment as elements that enhance the performance of users. The third main motive is the electronic pencil, a navigation system that facilitates tactics for new arriving athletes, allowing them to quickly integrate into the team game.
LINES – Zoning the Office
A line in sports defines the boundaries of the field, dividing the playing area into individual zones. Similarly, the office line serves to delineate different zones in the space: places where employees focus, where they collaborate as a team, and where individual concentration is expected. This creates workplaces, offices, meeting rooms, and areas for relaxation and rest. The line is also used to highlight storage areas and accentuate entrances and storage rooms. The principle of lining is used as a orientation system in the office.
EQUIPMENT – Performance-Enhancing Tools
Sports equipment (such as cones or boxes) is used by athletes during training to help them achieve optimal preparation and performance in matches. In the office, these tools help achieve the best possible work results in daily routines. The equipment is here abstracted into the form of wooden and metal boxes, which not only separate spaces but also contain meeting rooms and storage cabinets, phone booths, creating the very space itself. Training office tools help improve the technique and performance of all employees.
TACTICS – Electronic Pencil
The addressed floor serves for the high-ranking managers of Livesport; here, the company's "tactics" emerge. The right strategy and player movement plan are key moments that win matches, bringing athletes closer to their goals. Tactics are analyzed in sports broadcasts through the electronic pencil, which we have integrated into the wavy linear lighting. The lines navigate the space, guiding visitors and highlighting essential elements. Meeting spots are marked with a cross for their importance, and significant spots in the office are circled with light.
