In the spice processing factory in the center of Náchod, a space has been designated for the company store. Although relatively small and somewhat leftover, set aside from the main pedestrian paths, accessible only from the supply yard and open just one day a week, nonetheless. Interested parties should be presented with the breadth of the production range and offered as diverse a selection of products as possible.
The need to hide part of the storage area from customers’ sight led to the covering of the protruding pillar with a compact wall made of bioboard. This resulting wall serves not only as a double-sided shelf but also naturally invites the placement of the leitmotif of the entire store. The intoxicating scent of distant lands and the imagination of all sorts of corners of the world from which the individual raw materials are imported—plantations, transshipment points, and ports like beads strung along today’s silk roads. Therefore, a print of a world map with indications of the individual locations from which and what goods come here for processing. An awareness of the complex logistics and the primal exoticism of these goods. The archetype of a merchant's counter in the center of the room is transformed into the form of a miniature shipping container created in the company color, while two side counters serve as a card catalog for choosing bags of spices.
