The basic ideological axis of the exhibition The Lion and the Eagle – Moravian Luxembourgers and Their Castle is the presentation of the most significant personalities from the Luxembourg family, their relationships to medieval Moravia, and especially to their main residence – the Veveří Castle. The freely accessible exhibition is supported by an architecturally attractive solution, which includes authentic items from the collections of the National Heritage Institute and replicas and facsimiles of key items from the Luxembourg period that have survived to the present day.
The exhibition is designed in three unrenovated spaces of the Veveří Castle, on the ground floor of the Palace with the bartizan tower. Given the state of the spaces and the unevenness of the walls, the exhibition consists of built-in paneling that completely covers all walls. The only historical wall has been restored and is part of the exhibition. The load-bearing outer walls are covered with historical plasters, which had to be protected for later restoration. The paneling at these walls is self-supporting. Glazed illuminated showcases are embedded in the cladding. The exhibition is complemented by free-standing furniture in the form of three display cases, a panel with shelves, and a pedestal with a model of the castle.
