Delivery of a private library Zlín-Kostelec

Delivery of a private library Zlín-Kostelec
The proposal addresses the need for the placement of an extensive private library in relation to the existing family house. The presented solution supplements the existing building structure with a prism attached to the southern facade of the family house. Access to the building is established in conjunction with the existing living space on the 2nd floor. From here, a balcony provides access to the upper part of the library, as well as a straight staircase leading to the lower part of the library. The ground floor of the building is completely open to the garden area along the entire western facade, while the upper part of the structure is illuminated and ventilated by a continuous skylight placed parallel to the eastern facade of the house. The exposed surfaces of the walls and ceiling, the floor of the building, and the built-in steel structure of the balcony and staircase are all designed in white, just like the material of the library. The only significant element is the space-forming colorful spines of books and an oak desk with a suspended light fixture located at the center of the building. For the exterior cladding of the building, vertical siding made of spruce slats with a black paint finish is proposed.
