Context

The building is located in Prague 13 - Řeporyje on the grounds of the existing health center. The plot is bordered by the gardens of neighboring family houses and Rudoltická street, which slopes downwards from the center of Řeporyje towards the Dalejský stream. To the south, the building is in contact with the surrounding landscape of the Dalejský profile; to the west, it overlooks the rooftop landscape of old Řeporyje.

Original State
Originally, there was a functionalist villa on the site, which was converted into a health center. The building is surrounded by an extensive plot partly used as a garden and partly as a construction waste dump.

Design
We returned the existing building to its original functionalist form, and the entrance foyer was adapted for the current function of the health center.
The new building of the Senior House wraps around the mass of the original functionalist building, thereby creating a defined space of an open courtyard that smoothly transitions into the garden. The orientation of the building's main axes is derived from the shape of the plot and the position of the existing building.
The mass of the building retreats along with the slope on which it stands. It is highest at the northern edge of the plot, where it is partially sunk below ground level, while it is lowest towards the valley around the Dalejský stream. In the locations of the retreating mass, expansive walkable terraces are created, which form a second garden with views of the surroundings.
The individual rooms are designed in neutral colors. In contrast, the corridors and staircases are the arteries of the building highlighted by vibrant colors.
Great emphasis was placed on creating a diverse range of common spaces with varying degrees of intimacy and engagement in communal activities so that each client could find a rhythm that suits them best.

Layout
The windows of the rooms are oriented towards the garden or to views of the surroundings, which, in combination with lowered sills, ensure pleasant views for immobile clients.
The northern facades house the communication spaces, which are visually connected to the courtyard area. The linear space of the corridor connects the individual spots for communal programs, from community rooms to spatial extensions, where it is possible to sit privately with friends or family. The technical rooms and facilities are located in the basements.
