A small plot originally divided by the owner into two parts was the starting point for the design of a family house for a family of four. The limitations of the plot are not only a narrow piece of land but also the main intersection of Rajec in close proximity and high voltage with a safety zone. We are transforming these limits into the potential to compete with nearby bungalows with a similarly low structure, but with a focus on privacy and the unknown morphology of this part of the city.
The house is oriented south towards the entrance to the plot. Its front part is a low single-storey mass, partly indicating the function of the elevated pyramid-like volume on the western side. The entrance to the living space, visually divided into the living room and cooking area, is through a wooden cube - a separate integrated wooden element in the open layout. The living room and dining area have a separate nook so that the family does not disturb each other. Above the living room, there is a gallery with a workspace and a relaxation area of a rope net not only for children... The back part of the layout, a private night area, contains two children’s rooms oriented to the southwest and a bedroom oriented to the east. The living areas are complemented by hygiene facilities and separate dressing rooms.
The house, set between the already existing buildings with contact to a busy road, responds to these limits with its morphology and the described layout solution. The social area oriented towards the main road creates a barrier in front of the glazed atrium and the night part of the house. The morphology of the living part culminates in a significantly elevated glazed gable, providing this part with the western sun for children to relax in the net above the living room or for undisturbed work when the house quiets down at night.
