Residential Buildings "OTTO and EMMA" The concept of the residential buildings responds to the scale and structure of the surrounding development, which consists of 3-4 story villa houses. Although complete coverage of the plot with a single building is offered for maximum use of the site, our concept divides the mass into two buildings that respect the scale of the given location. This concept minimizes the area of internal communications and ensures sufficient ventilation and sunlight for all apartments. Both masses are connected by a common basement, which houses the underground garages. In Building A, 7 apartments and a communication core are designed. Building B contains 4 maisonette apartments, so-called "duplexes". In the upper floors of both buildings, large open-plan apartments with a rooftop pavilion and a terrace on the roof provide a panoramic view of Prague. The top floor of Building B is connected to the communication core by a glazed bridge. The total residential area of the apartments is 1318.3 m2. All apartments have a balcony or garden. The design of the maintenance-free ceramic cladding Moeding was inspired by the pre-war ceramic facades of Strašnice. Artistically, the buildings are conceived as positive and negative, through the form of a color contrast of the ceramic cladding. Simply put, like a boy and a girl (OTTO and EMMA).
