The architectural team of 0.5 Studio designed luxurious living in a spatially comfortable apartment with many above-standard solutions that arise from the wishes and needs of the clients.
The renovated apartment is located in a residential building in the luxurious residential district of Vinohrady in Prague, not far from Jiřího z Poděbrad Square. This neighborhood is characterized by apartment buildings from the 19th century, whose facades are a colorful mix of all neo-styles. The quality of living here was high even at the time of the realization of the individual buildings, and this is still the case now. However, to meet contemporary standards, it is necessary to adjust the apartments and adapt them to the current lifestyle.
The reconstruction of the entire building was carried out simultaneously as a development project, and the architects, together with the client, commissioned the design to the developer in the form of client changes. The apartment was tailored for a family with two children. The final realization features a calm neutral color scheme in earthy tones, thoughtful work with lighting, and a cohesive concept of custom-designed furniture.
The apartment is entered through an entrance hallway with a built-in wardrobe, which leads to a spacious hall with a circular light designed by the architects. From here, one can enter the shared bathroom, which includes an illuminated shower corner, a bidet, and a countertop with a built-in sink. The hall also leads to the toilet, the technical room, the living area with a kitchen, and two bedrooms for the teenage children.
The main living area with the kitchen is the heart of the entire apartment and the main communal space for the whole family. The light green segment of the kitchen provides sufficient spatial comfort, while thanks to its integrity and closure, it does not visually disturb. The work surface is made of stone, featuring an built-in cooking hob with a teppanyaki grill and a built-in herb drawer. Adjacent to the kitchen is the dining area of the room with a bench with LED backlighting, a rounded dining table, and chairs. The counterbalance is the resting area of the living space, which consists of a black bookshelf made of colored MDF panels, filling the whole longer wall of the room, and comfortable seating arranged with a standalone sofa and an armchair. The room's lighting is created by a sensitive selection of interesting standalone lights and the incorporation of light strips into the bookshelf, dining bench, and kitchen cabinets.
Next to the living space is the parents' bedroom. Above the bed is a subtle compact library with built-in nightstands. The wall opposite the windows is covered with a wardrobe that not only provides space for clothes but also conceals the toilet area with a built-in sink. The jewel of the bedroom is a standalone bathtub from the brand Bette, one of the client's fulfilled wishes.
The last two rooms in the apartment are the bedrooms for the teenage children, accessible from the hall. Here, the architects designed a cohesive floor module made of birch plywood and black metal, providing a comfortable reading nook with a library in the ground floor, a built-in wardrobe in the steps of the stairs, and comfortable sleeping space in the upper part. The room also includes a desk and additional reading seating built into the nook under the window.
The entire realization features a motif of gentle contrast. In the neutral color tones, black accents penetrate the kitchen and students' rooms, and the color scheme ranges from light tones in the bedroom to dark motifs of the library or shower corner. A subtle play is created by the striking lights designed by the architects, circular in the hall and a bold straight line in the living area. It is evident that the client gained, thanks to the comprehensive architectural design, a significantly more qualitatively executed space that adapted to his wishes and requirements. An exceptional living space was created with many smart solutions and interconnected aesthetic and functional elements.
