Abertamy

Abertamy
Krušné hory have been historically linked to mining activity since the 16th century. This transformed "mining cultural landscape" is now under UNESCO protection. The originally mining house in the village of Abertamy dates from the second half of the 19th century. Over the centuries, it has been remodeled and expanded several times with inappropriate extensions that degraded its mass and appearance. The main task of the reconstruction was to restore the house to its original state and appropriately supplement it with a new extension. The new volume is compact, topped with a gabled roof complemented by a horizontal dormer that transitions into a shed roof over the non-residential spaces. The house, designed as 5+kk, provides comfortable living for a family of five as well as a workspace for parents to work from home. The materials used in the exterior, folded sheet metal and larch wood, are durable in the harsh mountain climate and will gradually acquire a patina due to the weathering.
