The Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant has put into operation a modern administration building for ČEZ, which will provide top-notch facilities for training and work for employees. The new construction includes training spaces with workshops, where it will be possible to train the nuclear power plant operators using the latest technologies, including virtual reality.
The facility that commenced operations in June 2024 became the first newly constructed administrative building since the power plant was launched in 1985. In addition to office and training spaces, the building is equipped with even ballistic-protected areas and a special training wall. Employees moved into the new premises from the existing inadequate buildings, which were no longer feasible for renovation.

A safe and quality electrical installation is a key element for the reliable operation and training of nuclear power plant management. In an environment with such high safety demands, every detail plays a crucial role. The use of proven and certified electrical components from a reputable European manufacturer minimizes the risk of failure. Quality electrical installations enable efficient training for the management and monitoring of individual systems within the nuclear power plant, which is essential, especially during the challenging process of simulating unexpected situations.

The seven-story administrative and training building already places considerable demands on the overall length of cabling. The newly opened ČEZ building is interwoven with a dense network of high-voltage and low-voltage cables, with their safe and elegant placement taken care of by cable management systems from Hager. The used BRP parapet channel represents an ideal solution for distributing both power and data cabling. In combination with a proven mounting system for accessories, the installation of BRP channels is an ideal solution for electrical installations in commercial buildings, branches, laboratories, production spaces, or offices. Shaped parts compensate for possible wall or corner irregularities of up to 7°. The BRP parapet channel with a recessed cover not only has an attractive design but, due to its 80 mm wide cover, is also suitable for the installation of socket and switch devices – here, Hager's switch and socket systems of 45 × 45 mm were employed. The direct mounting appliance system represents a simple, fast, and modern solution with an unobtrusive appearance. This sophisticated technology guarantees not only the fastest possible installation but also easy repositioning of elements in an already operational installation. Additionally, this technology is complemented by a whole range of devices for various applications, which can solve any complicated system.

Where appropriate, Hager floor boxes are installed, ensuring connectivity via floor channels or pipes and providing access to power or data networks directly from the floor. Different sizes, shapes, materials, and colors of flip covers can be applied to floors of varying thicknesses. They are made of polyamide, aluminum, or stainless steel and are designed for dry, damp, or wet floor maintenance (IP66). A significant simplification comes from universal mounting boxes, suitable for all types of floor lids.

However, the most visible part of the electrical installation in the ČEZ administrative building is the switches, sockets, and other terminal control elements. Here, the choice fell on the designer series berker S.1 in black color, once again part of the Hager portfolio. S.1 switches represent a standard in terms of simplicity, functionality, and timelessness – which is why they have become popular control elements in extensive commercial and office buildings. Quality plastic switches are manufactured in white, cream, silver, and anthracite colors. Electricians have at their disposal switches, sockets, dimmers, motion sensors, USB, and TV sockets, along with all other electrical control elements needed in modern interiors – all in a simple and clean design and high-quality execution "Made in Germany". For particularly frequented and stressed spaces, sockets with higher IP ratings berker W.1 were installed in the JE Dukovany administrative building, boasting resistance against the ingress of water and dust particles rated at IP55. Additionally, berker W.1 switches are made from recycled plastics, adding another piece to the mosaic of higher sustainability and reducing the carbon footprint, to which Hager has long been committed.

However, the construction bustle in the Dukovany power plant area will not end with the newly opened administrative building. Further construction is planned: a parking house for 700 cars, new changing rooms, and a multifunctional building to replace some existing structures at the end of their lifespan. ČEZ is preparing for a massive project to construct a new nuclear power source – the first new block is expected to be launched in Dukovany in 2036.
