BiographyWojtek Jarząbek is a Polish postmodern architect whose professional career is closely linked to Wrocław. His work is unmistakable and evokes a lot of emotions. Among the most controversial buildings is the Solpol I shopping center, which reflected the new post-communist reality in Eastern Europe. His thinking is more painterly. It is rich in meaning and content, which was particularly evident in the time before the advent of computers.
After graduating in architecture from the Technical University of Wrocław in 1973, he gained the first five years of work experience at the Inwestprojekt office and subsequently worked from 1978-1990, with several breaks, in design offices in Kuwait, where he could develop his skills in a completely different reality (not only in terms of climate but also the type of clients). In 1980, he won a competition together with Wacław Hryniewicz and Jan Matkowski for the design of a church in the Popowice housing estate in Wrocław, after which he established his own design studio. In 1991, he, along with Jan Matkowski, Edward Lach, and Ewa Leś, prepared a proposal for a building at the intersection of Zielińskiego and Swobodna streets at the request of the housing cooperative Osada, and in 2011, he designed a cooperative housing estate called Osiedle Kminkowa.
