BiographyOtto Kohn was a Czech architect of Jewish descent. He realized a number of buildings together with his brother Karel Kohn. Otto Kohn is the father of mathematician Josef Kohn, who is still teaching at Princeton University, and is probably also the biological father of director Miloš Forman. Both Otto and Karl Kohn studied at the German Technical University in Prague. Initially, they designed buildings influenced by expressionism and later by functionalism. In 1938, most of the Kohn family fled from the Nazis to France and then traveled to Quito, Ecuador, where the Kohn brothers continued to design and teach architecture. After the war in 1945, Otto Kohn moved to the USA with his family, where he became a residential architect.
