VELUX expands its range of skylights with Red Dot award-winning products

The VELUX company is expanding its product portfolio for flat roofs with design skylights featuring flat and rounded glass, which are the ideal solution for residential buildings. Thanks to their elegant and minimalist design – awarded the Red Dot Design Award 2021 – the new generation VELUX skylights offer maximum daylight and a unique view: homeowners see only glass and sky. With this new addition, the VELUX portfolio now offers solutions for every flat roof: skylights with a dome without insulating glazing for unheated buildings, skylights with a dome and insulating glazing for inhabited buildings, and skylights with flat and rounded glass for lovers of modern design.

Products are already available in seven different sizes ranging from 60 x 60 cm to 120 x 120 cm, but later this year, VELUX will expand its portfolio to include sizes 150 x 100 cm, 150 x 150 cm, and 200 x 100 cm! The new skylights are designed for roofs with slopes from 0° to 15° and will be appreciated by installation companies, as they are easy to install thanks to pre-drilled holes and integrated retractable nuts for easy crane installation. Additionally, they provide excellent sound insulation – up to 42 dB – against external noise, and insulating double or triple glazing with internal laminated glass enhances energy efficiency. The exceptionally low U-value reaches 0.65 W/m²K for rounded glass and 0.75 W/m²K for flat glass, and 0.55 W/m²K and 0.60 W/m²K for triple glazing, respectively. These parameters guarantee excellent thermal insulation and reduce the energy required for heating.

Each of the new skylights can be selected in a fixed, electric, and, starting in September, a solar version. All are compatible with a wide range of accessories to enhance indoor comfort, including discreetly placed external awnings against overheating or blackout blinds.

In the VELUX solutions portfolio for flat roofs, interested parties can also choose dome skylights, which provide diffused daylight, optimal privacy, and quality sound insulation. They feature low maintenance requirements and are ideal for unheated industrial buildings, such as warehouses, garages, or smaller manufacturing halls. A higher variant for residential houses is offered by dome skylights with glazing. These consist of a dome and base with low-energy double glazing and quality insulation.
