Schüco expands its offer with its own protective railing for plastic windows

Creating high windows that reach from the floor to the ceiling is no problem with the range of plastic windows. Architects and developers create bright, airy interiors with them. However, in addition to the attractive design of the openings, it is necessary to comply with valid standards and regulations in the area of safety. The German company Schüco presents a new fall protection railing system that is compatible with the entire range of PVC window profiles from this brand. An advantage is the installation directly into the window profile, not into the reveal, which avoids problems with disrupting the thermal insulation of the building’s envelope, especially in passive standard homes. Furthermore, the window with railing creates a unified aesthetic whole. The manufacturer offers two versions of the railing: glass and bar.

Benefits for Design

Transparent glass railings meet the requirements for unobtrusive appearance, do not disrupt views of the surroundings, nor the overall external shape of the building. The alternative in the form of bar railings, on the other hand, supports creativity and an individual look of the façade. It allows for the choice of the distance between the bars, as well as the selection and combination of round bars of different diameters. An equally interesting variant is the combination of both types of railings together.

The fall protection system is suitable for new constructions as well as renovated buildings. It secures windows in public buildings such as schools, kindergartens, or nursery facilities excellently. It is undoubtedly also suitable for family home projects. The Schüco protective railing meets the requirements of valid regulations in Germany and in our country. Both versions are compatible with the 7-chamber thermally insulated system Schüco LivIng, which can be constructed with either stop or central seals. In addition, it excels with exclusive use in the corners of weldable EPDM seals with excellent durability and shape memory. The safety element can also be mounted on an energy-efficient window profile without steel reinforcements Schüco Alu Inside, which has certification from the Passivhaus Institute. The traditional 6-chamber system Schüco Corona SI 82 or the universally usable 5-chamber profile with stop seals Schüco Corona CT 70 are also not exceptions.

3 Fixation Methods in the Workshop and Quick Installation on Site

As is customary with Schüco products to streamline and save time during installation, the protective railing system is also based on prefabrication and a minimal number of components. The fall protection is mounted to the window profile in the workshop, and then it is installed on site as a complete solution. Depending on the window system, 3 hidden fixation variants are available. In addition to securing with a rebate strip, there are a profile and adhesive dowel. The profile dowel is used for plastic window systems with steel reinforcement, while the adhesive dowel serves to secure the profile without steel reinforcements Schüco Alu Inside. The rebate strip is universally applicable for all Schüco plastic systems.
