FACID: clamping technology used in connecting profile
The next edition of the international construction materials trade fair BAU defines the motto "The Future of Construction." How the company Schüco, a German manufacturer of window, door, and facade systems, has addressed this task will be on display from January 16 to 21, 2017, at booth No. 301 in Hall B1 of the Messe München exhibition center in Munich. The presentation of specific solutions aimed at architects, processors, and investors is based on energy-efficient and design-oriented technologies. There are also supportive digital technologies for planning, manufacturing, and construction processes. Without a doubt, the center of interest will be the attractive textile facade FACID and the new range of fire-resistant and smoke-proof door profiles.

The demands for modern construction are constantly increasing. Schüco works on new challenges in cooperation with all interested partners. The knowledge and information gained in this way are then used in the development of products and services. Communication with architects, processors, and investors is also reflected in the structure of the exhibition space at the Munich BAU trade fair. Everyone will find something for themselves. New and proven systems for windows, doors, facades, sliding walls, shading, and security will be presented in separate product sections, and there will also be thematic studies featuring comprehensive innovative solutions for building cladding.

Reliability and Freedom in Planning for Architects

A high level of creative freedom supported by reliability in planning is a priority. Schüco will present the unique textile facade FACID at the fair. This is a globally proven highly flexible solution that opens up further possibilities for the appearance of buildings. In addition to its attractive design, a significant advantage of this product is its operability and adaptability; installation is time-efficient and does not disrupt the operation of the building. While the core of the object remains, its appearance can change over time due to different uses, technical modifications, or new corporate architecture. Whether it’s a hanging facade, a back-ventilated facade, or an integrated facade, optionally with shading and anti-sun techniques and additional decorative finishes, including a combined facade option, FACID is based on quick installation thanks to the clamping system and does not require demanding production. Its low weight is also an advantage.

With the FACID system, any sustainable object can be attractively distinguished. There are several types of facade fabrics to choose from, always depending on the purpose and type of the object. For example, it can be a pre-stressed composite made of PVC fibers with printing options or high-quality glass fibers with fire resistance class A2. All fibers are available in many colors and varying degrees of porosity; for example, this can solve cross ventilation in parking garages.

Efficient Production and Installation for Processors

Simplicity, safety, and speed, thus economical production and installation, are the main criteria that processors seek. Schüco will focus on optimizing production processes at the trade fair, from planning to on-site installation. One example is the new range of door profiles with fire and smoke protection with construction depths of 90 or 76 mm (Schüco FireStop ADS 90 FR 30 and Schüco FireStop ADS 76.NI SP). Due to the unique geometry of the profiles, hardware components can be assembled without the need for milling and tools. If there is a change in use during the lifecycle, the hardware components can easily be adjusted to new needs with minimal costs. The system allows the design of fire doors without locking techniques, ideal for interior doors with high usage frequency.

Safety and Design for Investors

Investors are interested in sustainable, safe, and economical construction with individual design. Schüco will show this target group in Munich durable and sustainable products, ideal for the realization of successful projects with maximum returns. An example is the Schüco FWS 50.SI facade system and the highly thermally insulated Schüco AWS 75.SI+ window system, which were awarded Silver Certification according to the current C2C standard by the American institute "Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute."
