Glass, Bakelite, porcelain – but primarily in a “retro” design or at least inspired by the last century. Such switches attracted the greatest interest from visitors at the Hager booth at this year's seventeenth edition of the Designblok fair, which took place in the second half of October at the Industrial Palace in Prague's Holešovice Exhibition Grounds.

Porzellan made by Rosenthal
Not just architects and interior designers, but also most other visitors to Designblok… all of them stopped primarily at our rotary switches Berker Serie Glass, Serie 1930, and 1930 Porzellan made by Rosenthal,“ states Thomas Grund, the managing director of Hager Electro in the Czech Republic. Was he surprised by the public's preferences? “Not at all,“ smiles Thomas Grund. “We have been celebrating successes with our round rotary switches for more than five years – since the Berker switches joined the Hager portfolio – and we know that they are truly liked. It is no coincidence that when selecting switches and sockets for the renovation of such a gem as the Tugendhat villa, experts specifically chose our classic switches Berker Serie Glass and Serie 1930,“ adds Thomas Grund.

Other switches from the Hager portfolio also made an impression on visitors to Designblok, especially from the latest line, called Generation R. “From experience, we know that people particularly like unconventional materials for the frames, such as concrete, colored acrylic shades, or various metal surfaces, which go excellently with the otherwise very sober shapes of the Generation R switches.,“ explains Thomas Grund. Hager's booth also drew justified attention with switches made exclusively according to customer wishes – frames made of unconventional materials from Berker Manufaktura or switch elements adorned with Swarovski crystals. “The special program Berker Manufaktura leaves no customer wish unfulfilled. You can have switches made in any shade and color and from almost any imaginable materials, such as polished leather, denim, Scottish tartan, various noble metals, or even 24-carat gold. Among the examples of our exhibited switches Berker Manufaktura – because their range is truly inexhaustible – the neon green acrylic especially attracted attention. Who knows, maybe we will consider adding it to our standard, given the many positive reactions,“ concludes Thomas Grund.

The history of Berker switches began in 1919. In their development, maximum emphasis has always been placed on quality, design, and timelessness. Since 2010, Berker switches have been part of Hager's portfolio. They are available in the form of devices not only for classic installation, from standard sockets, through data technology, blind switches, dimmers, motion sensors, to thermostats, but also in wireless version Berker.Net, or in the form of intelligent KNX installations.
