Simple idea yet strong effect: "ice fragments" on the facade of the headquarters of the Taiwanese manufacturer of photovoltaic modules

Professor Hans Hollein, Austrian architect and author of the headquarters and production plant for photovoltaic module manufacturer Eton Solar Tech in Tainan City in the southwest of Taiwan, commented on his work as follows: "The new production plant for photovoltaic modules is a very concentrated and compact building. Two large cubes (each measuring 50 x 50 x 50 m) penetrate into each other, one dominated by glass, the other solid and robust, one embedded in the ground, the other hovering above. Together they form a sculptural work, placed in close proximity to an artificial lake in the middle of a park."

One shade and three textures create the impression of shattered ice

The ventilated cladding façade with plaster on the surface has a striking appearance: milled lines separate polygonal surfaces, and three different roughness textures of the creative plasters StoSignature create patterns of light and shadow across the entire surface. A simple idea with a remarkable effect and only one color shade of the metallic, highly durable coating based on pure acrylic Sto-Color Metallic: a smart choice of textures and different surface reflections create an impression reminiscent of shattered ice. "Ice shards" are purely separated by milled joints.
