The Faculty of Art and Architecture in Liberec is organizing a student workshop that will take place from October 18 to October 21, 2015. The event is intended for students of FUA TUL. The workshop will be held in České Budějovice at the Gallery of Contemporary Art and Architecture under the guidance of architects from the architectural studio Pezo von Ellrichshausen from Chile. The architectural studio Pezo von Ellrichshausen was founded in 2002 in Concepción, Chile by Mauricio Pezo / 1973 in Angola, Chile / and Sofia von Ellrichshausen / 1976 in Bariloche, Argentina /. They are architects who have created remarkable coherent work over the last more than ten years. Sofia and Pezo view architecture as a connection between art and science, as one of the expressive artistic means. A significant crossover to visual art is evidenced by a number of land art works and ephemeral pavilions. In the case of the exhibition Infinite Motif, it is an open exploration of the capacity of architectural intentions, which are to be diffused through the repetition of a single figure with a wide range of sizes. The internal consistency of the resulting complex system, in its relatively random nature outside of contexts, program, or construction, becomes an examination of the very concept of a self-regulating plan.
As part of the workshop, a scaled model will be produced for the exhibition Pezo Von Ellrichshausen - Finite Format, which will commence on the day of the workshop's conclusion, October 21, 2015, at 6:00 PM.
Before the opening of the exhibition, there will be a lecture by the architects starting at 4:00 PM in the Students' Church of the Holy Family. After the lecture, there will be a discussion with the architects.
On behalf of FUA TUL, Dean Zdeněk Fránek, together with the Gallery of Contemporary Art and Architecture of the House of Art in České Budějovice and its curator Michal Škoda, warmly invites you to the lecture and the opening of the exhibition Pezo Von Ellrichshausen - Finite Format.
The event is funded within the project Building Institutional Capacity and International Partnerships for Basic Research in Architecture and Urbanism No. LE14012, which is being implemented within the Program of International Cooperation in Research and Development EUPRO II, financed from the state budget of the Czech Republic.
