STOLEN GALLERY - a series on young Czech architecture: P-U-R-A

We invite you to another episode of the cycle on young Czech architecture, which takes place as part of the STOLEN GALLERY. P-U-R-A will present ... a group of three small architectural studios. The exhibition, along with the lecture, will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2014, from 9 PM in Prague at the embankment by the (A)VOID boat.

P-U-R-A

P-U-R-A or Platform for Urban Research and Architecture is made up of a group of three small architectural studios located in Prague, Milan, and London.

The studios primarily work on local and smaller projects mostly independently. Collaborative work, taking place in the form of intensive workshops or remotely, mainly involves urban competitions or larger projects. As a result of such collaboration, one of the residential towers in the so-called Expo Village is being developed in Milan, which will serve as accommodation for visitors and delegates during the world exhibition EXPO 2015.

Their designs focused on urban development and public space reflect the diverse cultural backgrounds of the individual members and combine their varied opinions, approaches, and experiences.

In addition to their everyday architectural work, they deal with the development of urban spaces in post-socialist cities or the ability of existing urban structures to absorb new elements or building layers.

The idea for this kind of collaboration originated in 2004 in Rotterdam, where during a student internship, Roy Nash, a Sicilian from a small village near Catania with British-Sicilian roots living in Milan, met René Dlesk, a Slovak from a similarly small village near Trenčín living in Prague. The individual studios were founded in 2010.

Come enjoy an evening of architecture in a unique exhibition space!
