On Thursday May 21, 2015, Plzeň will welcome Professor of Architectural History and Design at the University of Texas at Austin and one of the world’s leading experts on the work of Adolf Loos Christopher Long. One of the purposes of the professor's visit is connected to Loos - his lecture titled Lessons from Loos: A Way of Thinking, which will take place on the same day at 6 PM in one of Plzeň's Loos interiors - in the former apartment of the Kraus couple at Bendova 10, which underwent a sensitive renovation in recent years.

Christopher Long, a graduate of universities in Graz, Vienna, and Munich, and author of several publications on Adolf Loos as well as other creators, will focus in his lecture on how Loos considered ways in his designs and texts to determine what is modern and, therefore, suitable for a new age, in the context of the culture of his time. Long will also draw on his publications The Looshaus (2012) and Der Fall Loos (2015).

The lecture will be in English and will be interpreted on site. The entrance fee is 75 CZK, and 50 CZK for students and seniors. The capacity of the event is limited to 50 people. Tickets can be reserved or purchased at the portal plzenskavstupenka.cz (also on site if capacity is available). The event is part of the accompanying program of the Plzeň Architectural Manual (PAM) project organized by Pěstuj prostor, z. s. and Plzeň 2015, o. p. s. with the support of the Plzeň-TURISMUS organization and with the kind support of the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic.
