Zlín - Almost 80 million crowns was spent on the insulation of two buildings of the Secondary Industrial School of Polytechnics in Zlín. Both buildings are located in T.G. Masaryk Square, which is one of the most significant places with Baťa architecture in Zlín. Therefore, the buildings had to be insulated using a specific procedure from the inside, the spokesperson of the regional office Renata Škrobálková informed ČTK today. The work lasted from March to August and was one of the largest investments in schools in the region. "Construction work was carried out during the full school operation, at the peak time of the school year when vocational and graduation exams take place, so it was quite complicated. But we are glad that a complete reconstruction of the electrical installation could also be carried out, which we felt was a necessity. A significant part of the teaching takes place through computers, and as the old network was overloaded, there were often power outages," said the school's director Jiří Charvát. The Zlín Region supported the insulation of the buildings with 38 million crowns, over 36 million crowns were covered by an EU grant, and two million crowns came from the state budget. The reconstruction of the electrical installation in the main building required an additional 15.5 million crowns from the regional budget. "This investment project needed to be implemented due to the emergency state of the buildings and their high energy consumption. Thanks to the reconstruction, there will be a saving of energy costs in 2015 amounting to 250,000 crowns, and from 2016 and in the following years, the savings will amount to about 750,000 crowns annually," said Governor Stanislav Mišák (ČSSD). The region has been striving to support technical education in the long term. It aims to meet the needs of the labor market, where qualified employees are especially lacking in engineering firms, most of whom have to train their workers themselves. The region motivates students in various fields by providing scholarships and also invests in school equipment.
