Prague - Another villa has disappeared from the heritage-protected zone of Prague 6. The demolition of the building in Staré Střešovice was authorized by the local building authority. This follows from a resolution of the authority, which CTK has in its possession. A similar fate recently befell two other villas in the nearby Ořechovka. Fines were imposed for this.

This time, the demolition concerns a villa located at náměstí Před Bateriemi near the Evangelical Church. The local website alerted about the demolition, where residents also published photographs of the vanishing building. According to the decision of the building authority from October 2013, it is a two-story villa from the 1920s. The construction-technical survey indicates that the masonry in the basement has been compromised by moisture. Furthermore, the building is not located in the main focus of heritage care, the decision states.
The heritage preservation department of the city hall then recommended only photographic documentation of the building and the removal and preservation of significant functionalist elements, including window fittings. The owners want to construct a three-story building for residential use on the site of the historic villa.
Recently, two villas have disappeared without permission from the historically valuable area of Ořechovka. One of them belonged to the famous fashion designer Blanka Matragi. Authorities imposed penalties for both demolitions.
