Vyžlovka (near Prague) - Vyžlovka near Prague is preparing a reconstruction of the popular natural swimming pool at Vyžlovský pond. The area is set to include new facilities and also a gymnasium for the local primary school, said Mayor Jan Pelikán (Together for Vyžlovka) to ČTK.

The current building with facilities was created in the 1970s and is now inadequate; furthermore, it has structural issues. "We are planning to announce an architectural competition for the construction of new facilities for the swimming pool, which should include a small sports hall or rather a gym for the primary school. At the same time, there could be a restaurant there," Pelikán stated.

The municipality, which has just under 700 inhabitants, cannot afford the construction from its own funds and will not be able to proceed without a grant. According to Pelikán, the investment in the area could reach 30 million crowns, while the municipality operates on a nine-million-crown budget. "We will definitely need some financial assistance," the mayor added.

The attendance at the Vyžlovka swimming pool is reportedly increasing, according to Pelikán. He attributes this partly to the fact that more and more people are moving to the Central Bohemian Region. Such places for recreation and relaxation are therefore highly sought after.
