Prague - The Ministry of the Interior has embarked on extensive repairs of its headquarters in Prague's Letná district. The renovation of the fifth floor, where Minister Ivan Langer and his closest subordinates have their offices, will cost over 19 million crowns. Another approximately four million will be spent on modifications to the ministry's entrance hall, reports today's Mladá fronta Dnes. After a complete reconstruction, Langer should have access to the offices by mid-September. The repairs are very thorough, affecting all spaces from the minister's office to the restroom dedicated solely for the head of the ministry. The contracted company is also replacing all windows on the fifth floor. Langer's predecessor, František Bublan, sees no reason for such extensive repairs, as everything reportedly functioned well. However, Langer defends the renovations. He pointed out, for example, that the walls on the fifth floor were cracking due to the helicopter landing pad on the roof. The minister eventually canceled the helipad and only had the interior spaces repaired, MfD writes.
