Prague – The reconstruction of the Brno military storage area Trávníčkova for the needs of the tax administration and the completion of the regional workplace in Brno will take place in a narrowed variant, which does not include the extension of the tax office building on Příkop Street. The approved variant is expected to cost approximately 615 million crowns, while the comprehensive solution is currently estimated by the Ministry of Finance at nearly one billion crowns. This is stated in the material that the government approved today. Finance Minister Alena Schillerová (for ANO) informed about this at a press conference following the government meeting.
The goal of the entire comprehensive project is to relocate tax administration officials from other Brno and surrounding locations. Tax administration offices are spread across several locations in Brno, and many of them are in commercial leases. The original plans contemplated a complete adaptation of the Trávníčkova area, the addition of a courtyard building to the building on Příkop Street, and the construction of an additional floor. The document pointed out that due to the specification of the project, the development of construction prices, or increased requirements for energy efficiency of buildings, the estimated price has increased from 667 million crowns to 984 million crowns. Therefore, the administration has presented a so-called narrowed variant.
"In connection with the current situation and the expected deficit of the state budget, where all organizational units of the state are forced to adopt austerity measures in order to achieve maximum savings of state budget resources, a proposal for a narrowed variant is presented, which, however, does not address the comprehensive plan, but only addresses units located in leases, while only the reconstruction of the Trávníčkova area and the construction and insulation of the existing building at Příkop No. 819/25 would be realized. The narrowed variant does not anticipate the realization of the addition of the courtyard building to the building at Příkop No. 819/25. This narrowed proposal is estimated at 615 million crowns including VAT," states the document.
The General Financial Directorate took over the Brno Trávníčkova complex from the Ministry of Defense in March 2018. The investment was included in the National Investment Plan in October 2019 with a planned completion date in 2023. Subsequently, an open architectural competition took place, followed by a negotiation procedure without publication for the general contractor of the project works. However, this was halted until the government discusses this document. The first feasibility study and cost estimate was carried out by the administration in 2015.
