In the Construction of the Year competition of the Zlín Region, the Luhačovice villa was also successful

Zlín - This year, the main prize in the Stavba roku Zlínský kraj 2007 competition in the category of civic amenities can also be claimed by the heritage-protected villa Alpská růže in the spa town of Luhačovice. The expert jury appreciated its demanding reconstruction, which, according to them, will contribute to the development of spa life in Luhačovice. Organizers of the competition informed the journalists about this today. The main award in the category of civic buildings was also won this year by the multifunctional building of the company Zlínstav, in addition to the Luhačovice villa.
    "This year, for the first time, two buildings were awarded. They were diametrically different, both in their size and in the nature of their construction," said Dagmar Nová, chairwoman of the jury and chief architect of the city of Zlín, to ČTK. "Both buildings are significant for the places where they are located," she added.
    The organizers of the competition chose this year from a total of 21 completed projects in seven categories. In the housing category, the jury awarded the Apartment Building on Baťova in Otrokovice, while the storage hall of the company Arles in Fryšták won among industrial and agricultural buildings. In the category of transportation, engineering, and ecological buildings, the jury rated the construction of the road II/492 in Luhačovice the best. This year, the governor's award was given to the construction of the northeastern part of the bypass of the city of Otrokovice.
    The jury decided this year not to award the main prize, the Grand prix of architect Pavel Novák. Its members agreed that none of the submitted buildings achieves the highest award in terms of significance and architectural solution. In previous years, this award has been conferred on projects such as the reconstruction of the Baťa skyscraper or the project for the Business and Innovation Center Zlín.
