Příbram - In Příbram, the reconstruction of the cinema is coming to an end, which will allow for the screening of films in 3D format and is expected to increase viewer comfort. The modernized cinema will reopen to the public this Sunday, featuring the animated film Angel of the Lord 2 and the adventure film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. ČTK was informed today by Anna Čiperová, the deputy director of the Příbram theatre, under which the cinema operates.

Work on the reconstruction began this September. According to earlier information from the municipality, the adjustment of the auditorium without VAT cost 2.9 million crowns, and the supply and installation of new seats amounted to 1.2 million crowns. The city received a grant of 350,000 crowns from the State Fund for Cinematography for the seats. Additionally, a new projection device for 3D mode and other equipment were purchased for 300,000 crowns, and a new screen for 2D and 3D projection was obtained for 200,000 crowns.

The reconstruction had to be postponed several times, as potential structural issues appeared in some areas beneath the auditorium and projection room. Based on geophysical and geological surveys, it was decided to remediate the ground. The modernization of the cinema was delayed earlier due to project documentation that did not meet the fire department's requirements and had to be redone.

The Příbram cinema had previously undergone digitalization, but for 3D films, viewers had to travel elsewhere. Other cities in the Central Bohemia region have also modernized their cinemas. Their operators claim that after the transition to digital technology or 3D format, attendance and revenues have increased. Furthermore, audiences are attracted to the performances by ticket prices that are lower than those in the Prague multiplexes.
