Plesná - In Plesná, the reconstruction of the former Tosta company premises into a Czech-German museum will begin. It is expected to take about a year, said the mayor of Plesná, Petr Schaller (TOP 09), to ČTK.
"Next week we will sign the contract with the construction company for the main construction work and it will get underway. The construction work will run until December of next year. We are currently requesting an extension of the project implementation deadline to prepare the exhibitions in time," Schaller said. According to him, the museum's opening is planned for May 30, 2021.
In the tender for the contractor, the city achieved a price of 69.5 million crowns. This is higher than originally anticipated. The project has been in preparation by the city for about four years. However, according to Schaller, construction prices were significantly lower at that time.
In the 20-year unused area in the city center, a museum will be created that will showcase the transformations of the city and its Czech and German inhabitants and their mutual relationships from the early 20th century to the fall of the Iron Curtain. Another exhibition will be dedicated to the geological curiosities of Plesná and its surroundings.
