In Písek, a parking garage for 234 cars will be built for 120 million CZK

Písek - A new parking garage for 234 cars will be built on Žižková street opposite the Czech Post building in Písek. The city of Písek will spend more than 120 million crowns, and the demolition of the former postal depot building will cost an additional five million crowns. This was decided today by the Písek city councilors.

Thanks to the study for parking possibilities at this location, four proposals for possible use of this area were created. The councilors chose the option with the highest capacity of parking spaces.

"The chosen option is a parking garage that generates a capacity of 234 spaces and represents a version with the maximum number of spots. Among other things, its volumetric solution respects the surrounding urban development," said city architect Josef Zábranský.

The selected variant proposes a parking garage in the middle section of the courtyard. "The building consists of four above-ground floors. The first is partially embedded in the terrain due to the topography. Following are two typical floors, set back from the surrounding buildings. The last floor is limited by the proportions of the neighboring buildings, making it spatially more economical," stated the deputy mayor of Písek, Josef Knot (TOP 09).

Now officials from the investment and development department will begin negotiations with participants in the zoning and building permit proceedings for the approved variant. "The outcome of the discussions must be presented to the city council by March 31, 2017," stated the spokesperson of the magistrate, Kristýna Barchini.

Písek has about 30,000 inhabitants, is a district city with many offices and secondary schools, and its historical character attracts many tourists.
