Pardubice - The Road Administration and Maintenance of the Pardubice Region today began the long-prepared reconstruction of the road at Masaryk Square in Pardubice, which will last until the end of August. The roadway and bus stops will be repaired, and materials based on nanotechnology will also be utilized. The additive improves the physical and mechanical properties of the layers and their resistance, said Miroslav Němec, director of the regional road workers, to ČTK.

"It improves the bonding forces in the mortar that connects the individual stones and fractions found in the mixture,"
said Němec.

The reconstruction will be divided into two phases to ensure traffic serviceability. Today, half of the roadway in the direction from Chrudim was closed, where workers will remove the paving stones in the bus lane and create a new cover from cement concrete. New asphalt will also be laid.

From August 1, the second side in the direction to Chrudim will be reconstructed in the same manner. Masaryk Square in Pardubice is a key traffic hub, through which more than 20,000 vehicles and dozens of city and public transport buses pass daily.

The city of Pardubice will also adjust the paved areas in front of the ČSOB Insurance building during the construction and install traffic lights at the pedestrian crossing in front of the Palác Pardubice shopping center.

From September to October, the road repair will continue on the adjoining stretch from Masaryk Square to the Pavel Wonka Bridge. Just like during the previous construction, the current asphalt concrete cover will be replaced with a quieter surface. Construction work is largely planned for weekends with partial closures.
