NÁCHOD - The Náchod town hall today received the renovated ice rink. The renovations of the rink, which began in 2004, cost over 26 million crowns. The reconstructed sports facility will provide better amenities for athletes and the public, said Nina Svobodová, spokeswoman for the Náchod town hall, today.
“The ice rink is used every day from 07:00 to 23:00, and apart from morning skating for schools, it serves both sports clubs and the public,” said the spokeswoman. In 2004, the Náchod town hall spent nearly eight million crowns to renovate the stands, sound system, and acoustic ceilings. Workers also renovated the changing rooms and restroom facilities for the public.
This summer, the town hall had the rink's machinery room repaired, added new changing rooms for the hockey players, and a gym for figure skaters; the rink also received a new exterior cladding this year. This year's renovations cost over 18 million crowns, of which more than 13 million was obtained as a subsidy from the state budget.
In the Hradec Králové region, town halls have renovated several ice rinks in recent years; for instance, this year workers were modernizing the rink in Opočno in the Rychnov area. In 2004, the ice rink in Rychnov nad Kněžnou was reconstructed and covered. The second ice surface in Hradec Králové has also had a new roof for several years; the Hradec town hall is now planning a complete reconstruction of the ice rink for about 180 million crowns. According to the prepared study, it is necessary to repair the outdated cooling technology, the aging ceilings in the hall, and the external cladding of the building.
