Milovice - A new fire station is being built in Milovice in the Nymburk region. The construction funded by European money will cost nearly 48 million crowns. Firefighters could start using the new station in the autumn of next year, said the spokesperson for the Central Bohemia firefighters, Ladislav Holomčík, to ČTK.

The new fire station is being built on Armádní Street in Benátecká Vrutice, which is part of Milovice. The building will be two stories, with garages for fire vehicles on the ground floor, including a separate area for washing cars. Workshops for vehicle maintenance and other firefighting equipment, a small warehouse for fuels and oils, and other necessary facilities for the station will be located alongside the garages.

The second floor will be designated for administration, personal hygiene, day and night readiness, and the physical training of firefighters. "The offices of the station commander and team leaders are located on the floor, as well as three rooms for night readiness with a maximum of six beds per room," said Holomčík.

In Central Bohemia, a new fire station opened in March 2016 in Čáslav in the Kutná Hora region. Its construction cost nearly 32 million crowns. It was built in a strategically better location with shorter access to the main traffic routes, such as road number 38. In the vicinity of the former fire station in the center of Čáslav, there were narrow streets, and many pedestrians, including children from a nearby school, made it unsafe during departures. The station in Milovice is expected to be similar to that in Čáslav.

In the Nymburk region, there are also fire stations in Poděbrady and Nymburk, so Milovice will become the third professional fire station in the district.
