In the historic center of Brno, another luxury hotel has been established

Brno - In one of the architectural landmarks in the heart of the historical center of Brno, the former Cyril and Methodius Savings Bank at Zelný trh, a luxury hotel Grandezza has been created. Today it was ceremonially opened, and the hotel has officially been in operation since Saturday, May 5. This was stated by spokesman Martin Gillár. After the reopened luxury Barceló hotel at the nearby Šilingrovo náměstí, this is the second reconstructed four-star hotel located in the historical center of Brno.
     Hotel Grandezza is part of the national hotel chain Grandezza Hotels. The hotel will have a total of 75 rooms with a capacity of 150 beds. "The goal was and still is to transform the former Cyril and Methodius Savings Bank building into a luxury four-star hotel with the amenities and service level of a five-star hotel," Klára Hadrabová from Grandezza Hotels told ČTK.
     Compared to the Barceló hotel, Hotel Grandezza offers seating in the Italian restaurant Il Mercato with a capacity of 90 seats, which is part of the hotel and is led by Italian chef Riccardo Lucque. A pastry shop should also ensure higher attractiveness.
     Thanks to the hotel, more than 40 jobs have been created in the center of Brno. Currently, the hotel section has 13 employees, the restaurant has 20, and the café has eight. The restaurant expects additional seasonal workers during the operation of the summer terrace.
     In the center of Brno and its surroundings, there are now about ten four-star hotels. Two of them, Hotel Voroněž and Holiday Inn, are also located in close proximity to the Brno Exhibition Center.
     The Cyril and Methodius Savings Bank at Zelný trh in Brno was designed by the famous architect Vladimír Fischer (1870 to 1947). Its construction began in 1913 and was completed two years later. It was built by Leopold Cupr. Over the years, it housed, among others, the Faculty of Law and later the Faculty of Economics and Administration of Masaryk University. The sculptural decoration was created by V. H. Mach.
     The main designer of the renovations of the former Cyril and Methodius Savings Bank is architect Ondřej Kukral from the Mladá Boleslav studio K+K, who also participated in the transformation of Kotěra's District House in Hradec Králové. "The entire interior will correspond with the late Art Nouveau architecture of the building," Hadrabová added regarding the renovations.
