Hradec Králové - A new digital planetarium was ceremoniously opened in Hradec Králové today. The construction and equipment of the planetarium, which stands next to the Hradec astronomical observatory, cost approximately 111 million crowns. An open house day is planned for Friday for the public, said today the spokesperson of the Hradec Králové region, Martina Götzová. The construction of the planetarium took three years. According to the governor of the Hradec Králové region, Lubomír Franc, the planetarium, due to its ability to accurately represent the universe, will help the general public better understand the complexity of this issue and will foster interest among the younger generation in scientific knowledge. Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka also came to Hradec Králové for the launch of the planetarium, believing that the project will increase public interest in these fields. "Thanks to the new digital planetarium, Hradec Králové and the entire region offer the most modern facilities for students and highly qualified professionals in disciplines developing modern technologies," said Sobotka. People will have the opportunity to see the new planetarium on Friday from 14:00 to 20:00. "Every hour on the hour, a group corresponding to the capacity of the projection hall will be allowed entry into the planetarium. After the presentation of the projection system, visitors will take a tour of the interactive exhibits. They will also have the opportunity to visit the neighboring observatory, from whose terrace it is possible to observe the surroundings or the night sky," said the director of the observatory and planetarium, Miroslav Krejčí. The new planetarium offers interested visitors a circular hall with one hundred seats. On two floors around the circular hall, there are two interactive exhibits titled Microworld - Macroworld and Energy - its forms and transformations. The new planetarium offers views of the night sky, spatial representations of the universe, and film projections. The building also includes a robotic telescope and a meteorological station. The Hradec astronomical observatory previously housed a planetarium from 1958, which was the oldest and also the smallest similar facility in the country and was no longer technically or spatially suitable.
