Hradec Králové - The new digital planetarium next to the observatory in Hradec Králové will open to the public on January 23. Programs have been prepared for schools as well as for the public, said Miroslav Krejčí, director of the Hradec observatory, to ČTK today. The ceremonial opening of the construction, which cost 111 million crowns, is scheduled for January 22, with public programs beginning the following day. “Programs for schools will be every day from Monday to Friday, and a program for the public will be available from Wednesday to Saturday,” said Krejčí. The planetarium will offer three programs, one will be a screening of one of three films and a short tour of the sky, another will showcase interesting facts about the sky and allow for observation, and the third program will enable evening sky observation. The construction of the planetarium with a circular hall seating nearly a hundred began in the spring of 2013. Interactive exhibitions titled Micro-world - Macro-world and Energy - its forms and transformations are installed on two floors around the circular hall. “We are still adjusting the light panels, the planetarium is in a trial operation, some things still need to be tuned, there is still a lot of work to be done,” said Krejčí.
