Blansko - In Blansko, the reconstruction of energy networks, communications, and green areas in the space behind the town hall will be completed by the end of the year for 18 million crowns. This will conclude extensive modifications in the city center, during which the pedestrian zone and the adjacent squares of Svobody, Republiky, and Wankelovo náměstí have gained a new appearance. "The modifications of the streets behind the town hall connecting to the pedestrian zone will be fully funded by the city office," said Blansko's deputy mayor Jindřich Král to ČTK today. As part of the reconstruction, adjustments to the gas supply, relocation of the low-voltage cable, modernization of water supply and sewage systems are planned. The communications and sidewalks will receive a new surface. The city leadership also wants to create more parking spaces behind the town hall. The entire center of Blansko has received a new look in recent years. Last year, the town hall invested 15 million crowns in the reconstruction of the pedestrian zone on Rožmitálova Street. It now has a new surface, lighting, the zone was partially expanded, and trees have been planted in it. The adjacent square has also been improved for the relaxation of citizens and tourists. For example, in Wankelovo, there are statues recalling the rich history of artistic cast iron production in the city. A pride of the nearby square of Republiky is the system of fountains reminiscent of the streams of the Moravian Karst sinking underground. In the park on Svobody Square, a memorial to the villages was created in the past, which commemorates the largest estates that once stood in the city.
