Beroun - In Beroun, a new kindergarten for 88 children will open in September, which was created by converting the former nursery in Preislerova Street. The kindergarten was originally supposed to have a capacity of 80 places, but thanks to the expansion of the social facility, it was possible to increase it. The total costs for the construction of the kindergarten amounted to 26 million crowns, of which two million were paid by the city and the rest was covered by grants from European funds, the spokeswoman of the town hall, Pavla Švédová, informed CTK today.

Due to the expansion of capacity, the costs of reconstruction increased by approximately 150,000 crowns. "I am glad that we managed to increase the number of accepted children, and thus we could respond to those parents whom we could not initially satisfy with their request for the admission of their child," said Mayor Tomáš Havel (ODS). The kindergarten will start operating on September 1, and children and their parents can visit it on August 31 during an open house.
The capacity of the Beroun kindergartens is currently fully utilized. This year, a total of 278 children have been accepted into the seven Beroun kindergartens, which is 104 more than last year. The capacity of preschool facilities in Beroun has increased to 670 places. However, it is necessary to further increase it due to the growing number of children. Havel sees the solution in the construction of prefabricated or modular kindergarten systems, which are more economically efficient.
